Manage your blood glucose, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels. Research shows that managing your diabetes as soon as possible after diagnosis may help prevent diabetes health problems. You can start by managing your diabetes ABCs.
Take small steps toward healthy habits. Lifestyle habits such as planning healthy meals, being physically active, getting enough sleep, and not smoking may help you manage your diabetes ABCs. You don’t have to do it all at once. Start slow and build healthier habits from there.
Take your medicines on time. Remember to take your medicines even if you feel healthy. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist if you have trouble taking your medicines on time or at the correct dose.
Reach or maintain a healthy weight. If you have overweight or obesity, ask your primary care provider if healthy eating, physical activity, or other weight-loss treatments may help you manage your weight.
Take care of your mental health. Managing diabetes can be hard. If you feel down, sad, or overwhelmed, learn about healthy ways to cope with stress. Consider talking to a mental health counselor or joining a support group.
Work with your health care team. Managing diabetes takes a team. Your health care team may include a primary care provider, diabetes specialist, registered dietitian, or certified diabetes educator. Ask your primary care provider if you should talk with other health care professionals about your diabetes.
As you read above, physical activity is very important for people with diabetes! Additional benefits of physical activity include:

Are you interested in getting American Heart Association CPR & AED training? Hunterdon Health will be offering classes at the Clinton Wellness Center.
Courses cover Adult, and Child CPR as well as AED use. The course cost is $60 per person.
Upcoming Date: November 4th
Time: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.
All virtual classes have been discontinued with the exception of the Sunday morning 9:30 am BodyBalance class with Leigh. While we appreciate all of you who have taken our virtual classes over the last couple of years, we no longer have the interest that we used to. We encourage you to come in and take the classes in person.
If you are waitlisted for a class and someone cancels, you will automatically be moved into the class and an email will be sent to you if it is within 2 hours of the class start time.
Two hours prior to the class, the waitlist closes and no one automatically gets moved in. The reason for this is the person being moved into the class may not get the notification in time, therefore, we are potentially holding a spot for someone who may not get the message. Members should check the portal/app or may call in within two hours of the start time to find out if there is an opening. In other words, the open spots become available to anyone at the two hour mark.
If you are on the waitlist and you decide that you are not going to attend, we ask that you please remove yourself. We also kindly ask that members who are unable to attend a class, cancel their registration more than 2 hours before the class begins. Please remember that if you do not cancel at all, you are subject to a $10 penalty.
If you refer a friend or family member and they join the Wellness Centers, you will receive a choice of $20 on your club account that can be used toward any service, product, or membership fee OR two free guest passes.
Fitness is a journey, not a destination. Staying fit is an ongoing commitment with milestones achieved along the way.
We are excited to announce that the Hunterdon Health and Wellness Centers is now offering a new 1-year Fitness Anniversary Program to celebrate our members' fitness milestones. We are happy you trusted us to provide you with the tools that will lead to lifelong health and wellness.
During your anniversary month, you will be invited to bring a family member or friend to join you for a one-anniversary workout. You will also receive two guest passes for future use and a complimentary beverage from our Pro Shop. (To redeem your rewards, please present the email you will receive during your anniversary month to the Front Desk.) We look forward to celebrating your progress and expressing our appreciation to you as a valued member of the Hunterdon Health and Wellness Center.
If you have any further questions or comments, we welcome your phone calls to our Front Desk!
