Pelvic floor disorders are common in men and women, but many times a person is reluctant to seek medical attention due to embarrassment, the feeling that nothing can be done, or the belief that it is a normal part of life and aging. Here at the Center for Pelvic Health, we want you to know that you are not alone and you do not have to live with the discomfort or embarrassment. Together, we can dramatically improve the quality of your life.

You will receive care in a relaxed, private environment, dedicated to addressing your pelvic floor needs and ensuring respect, dignity, and sensitivity during all phases of your treatment. All you need to do is take the first step.

The Center for Pelvic Health offers a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care and the diagnosis and treatment of pelvic floor disorders in men and women.

Conditions we treat include:

  • Urinary issues (incontinence, leaking, retention, urgency)
  • Overactive bladder
  • Chronic urinary tract infections
  • Interstitial cystitis
  • Hematuria (blood in urine)
  • Chronic pelvic pain
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Sexual dysfunction (male and female)
  • Bowel issues (chronic constipation, diarrhea, incontinence, leaking, blood in stool)
  • Prostate issues

Take this brief self-assessment to see if you may suffer from a pelvic health disorder.

  • Do you wake up frequently to go to the bathroom?
  • Do you leak urine unexpectedly?
  • Do you leak urine when you cough, sneeze, laugh, bend, or lift?
  • Are you experiencing urinary retention or urinary urgency?
  • Do you have blood in your urine?
  • Do you have frequent urinary tract infections?
  • Do you occasionally have leakage of stool?
  • Do you suffer from chronic constipation or diarrhea?
  • Do you have blood in your stool?
  • Do you have chronic pelvic pain?
  • Are you experiencing any sexual difficulties?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may have a pelvic floor disorder. Please call (908) 237-5462 to discuss your symptoms.

Pelvic Floor Disorders (PFD) occur when the muscles or connective tissues of the pelvic area weaken or are injured. The most common PFDs are urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse. PFDs are more common among older women. Medication and surgery are not the only options available to treat PFDs.
